July 9 and 10 will see the running of the 2011 Swann Insurance 24 Hour.

 Unlike the Australian 4 day enduro the weather will not play a part in the running of Australia’s ultimate reliability test and with the start only a week after and 4 hours  drive from the Hattah Desert race why not come and stay a week in the Beautiful Barossa valley and test you endurance against one of Australia’s toughest events.

 The event will start from the Eudunda Sporting Complex at 11am on Saturday 9^th of July, with continued support from the local community providing not only the valued catering and facilities for the event base, but also the range of properties to be used.  The course has been designed to include a variety of terrain with some new sections included to test the large field expected to enter this unique test of rider and machine. 

“The layout of the track enables us to use some new properties and some that have not been used for a few years.  We are trying to operate on a four year cycle to allow a break for some of the land holders, to ensure they and their land receives a rest.  The track will be a good mixture to keep everyone on their toes” said course designer Shane Schiller.

“Unfortunately the A4DE in Queensland was postponed to the same weekend as the 24 Hour after extreme rain leading up to their event caused major dramas” said Brett Tomkins, 24 Hour Reliability Trial Committee Chairman.  “The 24 Hour is set for that weekend and we will ensure that we put on another great event”.

The Swann Insurance 24 Hour Reliability Trial is a true test of rider and machine, with competitors having to carry all spares and riding gear that they require for the event, the only assistance allowed is when refuelling their motorcycle.

At this stage the last three winners will be lining up to add to their tally.  Last year’s winner, New Zealander Chris Power, will be back to defend his title, 2009 winner Sean Throup will be keen for more luck after putting a hole in his engine case last year.

 “The last two years have been won by Yamaha riders, hopefully I can follow with another win after receiving support from Yamaha for 2011” enthused 2004 to 2008 winner Shane Diener.
